Mrs. Johnson was a teacher and mentor in every sense. She taught us the art of public speaking and inspired confidence in all who worked under her. She also emphasised morality, ethics, and grooming as essential values that every woman in the Movement should uphold. If one was over- or under-dressed, she would gently draw attention to it — not out of criticism, but out of her desire to see every woman present herself with dignity. She wanted the women of the Movement to be cultured, respected, and exemplary, passing these values down through the generations. She treated every member with respect and warmth. During her visits to the various regions, she made time to inspect projects, motivate the women, and ensure that each team fully understood and embraced the agenda of the Movement. Mrs. Johnson was also a devoted advocate for women’s rights and empowerment. She believed that every woman, regardless of background, deserved the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to her community and country. Under her guidance, many women found their voices and their purpose. Mrs. Johnson shared a very close personal and working relationship with Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, the Founder and President of the 31st December Women’s Movement. Together, they worked tirelessly to advance the Movement’s vision of women’s empowerment and national development. Their partnership was built on mutual respect, trust, and a shared passion for improving the lives of women across Ghana. Their bond strengthened the Movement and inspired countless others to serve with dedication and selflessness. She was a fantastic orator, whose eloquence inspired confidence and action. She was decisive yet fair, strict yet accommodating, and always committed to ensuring that justice and order prevailed in every aspect of our work. “ 1946 MRS.
